Widely recognised for her ‘Rock Star’ portraiture, Sarahphotogirl's portfolio reads like a Who's Who of the music industry, from Paul Weller, Blur and The Kaiser Chiefs, to Pete Doherty, Sugababes and Charlotte Church – not bad for a girl whose granddad taught her to develop a negative aged twelve, telling everybody afterwards that his granddaughter had not at all grasped the science of photography and was highly unlikely to ever become a photographer!

It was her love of music and the collected portraits of favourite bands which covered her walls that led to her second attempt at photography whilst at university studying Film and Literature in York.  Since then, Sarah’s work has appeared in a wide range of magazines, from NME and Q, to almost every photography magazine imaginable! Her rock portraits have been printed on album sleeves, books, and she's even been subject of a BBC TV documentary – ‘a day in the life of...’ , co-presented by Rik Wakeman.

Now based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, Sarahphotogirl (whose real name, if not this, is shrouded in mystery!) recently started using the E3 in her work. It's the live view screen which clicks out and viewed from all different angles that won Sarah over and is a god-send in her self-portraiture work, ‘Now I can actually see what I am doing, have so much more creative control, and don’t have to lie in the mud to get low angle shots anymore - which is good for me and even better for my washing machine!’.

Although best known for her truthful documentary style, her recent work is becoming more diverse and challenging: as well as music photography, she now entertains Commercial, Fashion and Weddings, but there is one strict Photogirl rule: ‘I’m not just 'any' photographer, so be prepared for an influx of imagination and creation! I pride myself on being different,’

Her creative approach is evident in her latest series of self portraits where she is seen falling down a rabbit hole crammed full of twisting bookcases, past the peachy glow of old dusty lamps, Wonderland-style. She seems determined to make photography fantastic: "My main aim, as always, is to entertain myself - both in the development and creation stage, and in the final image. After all, if you can’t entertain yourself, how can you expect to entertain others!?"
