Based in Oxfordshire, Ben is 32 years old and has been taking photographs for over 15 years.  Initially concentrating on travel photography, he has diverse experience having worked on overseas assignments with VSO, an international development charity and more recently branching out into the pressured arena of wedding photography.

His images have been used in a number of national publications including the Observer, The Independent, Metro and The Big Issue.

One of Ben's greatest passions throughout his career has been to travel to new places and experience different cultures and people.  His love of photography stems from his experiences in Nairobi, Kenya, where he spent time capturing the divide between the slums of Nairobi and tourist Kenya. This culminated in a successful exhibition and a subsequent life-long interest in photography. Since then he has traveled to Mozambique, Rwanda, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Nepal with VSO on photography tours

Ben now shoots with two Olympus E1's and Zuiko Four Thirds lenses. “The E1 is such a reliable and robust camera, it's perfect for my work in Africa which often takes me off the beaten track. It can deal with the dry dust and I don't panic if I get caught in a down-pour. It's easy to use and produces stunning quality.”

One of the most exciting things for Ben is where his photography takes him and the variety of his work. He's been lucky enough to travel all over the world with his camera and has even photographed behind the doors of Buckingham Palace and Number 10 Downing Street, where he photographed a reception held by the Lord Mayor of London.

Ben admits that the challenge of 'catching the moment' is why he loves photography so much and this is what has largely led him in to wedding photography. Arriving in a remote village in Sierra Leone and capturing the story of people you've never met before the light fades, really makes you think on your feet. Whilst the two genres may seem poles apart, the challenge remains the same.
