"I chose Olympus because its aesthetics and processing grabbed me from the start. That's the simple truth. As time has passed, I've discovered the quality of its products, and particularly the Zuiko lenses. Given the atmospheric problems I've faced on several occasions, I've been able to put the tightness of their bodies and lenses to the test against dust and water. Olympus and its ability to innovate make me feel different and I really like that.” www.hein-rich.com |
Hein Rich was born in Vallada, a small village in Valencia. Self-taught at the beginning, he moved into the world of photography slowly and progressively until finally finding his calling during the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in 2005. His images have won several awards and many of them have been exhibited throughout the country and abroad, in locations such as the Macro Testaccio Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome. Spontaneous and bold are the words that best define the images in his portfolio. They are photos that make you feel his presence in the location; they are pictures that say a lot about him. He's like a street photographer who retains the majestic flare of travel photography and vice versa. All his shots make you think instinctively in the human being, because if there is a common theme in them all, it is the direct or indirect presence of man and the relationship with its environment and its peoples. He always says "The best picture is the one I couldn’t take", but we could well question this as he doesn’t seem to miss anything! He is respectful, but this is tempered with a cool, daring and provocative edge. Hein Rich reveals that there is more to photography than technology and beauty: activism. Kike currently combines his job teaching children with special educational needs with photography projects, photography and post-processing classes, and travelling as a volunteer in collaboration with a number of charities and foundations.
