On 11th November 2005, everyone at Olympus was greatly saddened by the death of Lord Patrick Lichfield and joined the rest of the photographic community in mourning the passing this truly great photographer. Graeme Chapman, MD of Olympus UK and friend of Lord Lichfield for a number of years, said that "Lord Lichfield's busy timetable took him to the far corners of the world covering assignments for major airlines, major newspapers and many of the world's largest companies and that at every lunch or dinner Patrick would update me on his recent journeys explaining how he had overcame difficult time schedules and difficult conditions to photograph some of the world's most famous people."
Graeme Chapman continued saying that "Olympus has lost a great ambassador and most of all a tremendous friend and colleague. We were privileged to work with Lord Lichfield for 25 years and his enthusiasm for photography never diminished during this time. He is one of the greats of twentieth century photography and has left a legacy of astounding images that future generations will appreciate and admire."
Lord Lichfield, or simply Patrick as he liked to be known, will be greatly missed by many people. At this sad time the thoughts of all at Olympus are with his friends, family and loved ones. |
