Ultra precise system based on IX71/iX81 microscope
Olympus CellCut Plus, based on the inverted IX71or the inverted motorised IX81 microscopes, is a versatile, high precision microdissection system. It facilitates gentle, rapid and reliable isolation of cells or subcellular structures from tissue sections, smears or cell cultures.
Outstanding optical quality
UIS2 objectives with outstanding optical values are the most important prerequisite to laser microdissect small organisms, tissues, single cells or even subcellular structures. The new UIS2 objectives provide high transmission rates at 355nm, excellent numerical apertures and superb working distances to successfully isolate material for subsequent downstream analysis in various fields of research.
Contamination free membrane technology
During process of cutting and ablating the specimen is safely embedded between a glass slide and a membrane frame. The sample is collected by a three step automatic CapLift function: The cap is positioned over the cut region, lowered onto the membrane until the adhesive film sticks to the lid of the cap and subsequently it is lifted together with the extracted target.
UV-A laser for cutting and ablating
The maintenance free solid state UV-A laser (~355nm) integrated into the CellCut Plus system is pulsed with a high beam quality for precise and very quick cutting and ablating. Laser power and focus are computer controlled and operated via the system integrated UV-Cut Plus software. The 'cold ablation' process of the UV-A laser leaves the sample unaffected and has no impact on DNA/RNA or proteins. Furthermore, the viability of living cells is not affected after precise microdissection, laser microsurgery or microinjection.
Intuitive operating software
The heart of the CellCut Plus system is the UV-Cut Plus software. Its intuitive graphical user interface gives access to the control of specific laser microdissection functions as well as easy to use process and scanning routines. The cutting path is drawn into the computer live image by free-hand selection or predefined figures; a Touchpen monitor facilitates this task. Marked areas are automatically cut.
High precision motorised stage
A motorised stage guarantees precise positioning and even movement of the samples in the laser beam focus during laser microdissection and micromanipulation. A completely flat stage surface and optional specimen holders for three slides or a Petri dish in conjunction with an overview scan function facilitate sample screening. Convenient inspection of slides as well as a high throughput of samples can be realised reliable and easily.
Optional MultiCap and MultiSlide
The target structures are collected and transferred contamination-free into the lid of a microfuge tube. Based on the users’ choice a motorised MultiCap collection device is available as well as a MultiSlide stage insert. Thus specific targets like DNA, RNA or proteins are routinely extracted in high quality, suitable for subsequent downstream molecular analysis.
Microdissection of living cells
The contamination free membrane technology utilised in the SmartCut, SmartCut Plus and CellCut Plus Microdissection Systems is extremely useful for cutting living cells submerged in cell culture medium.  Selection and isolation of single cell clones for subcultivation has never been so easy and reliable.  Cells are grown in special chambers with a membrane bottom.  Those chambers are placed inside regular cell culture dishes.  Target cells are excised and the membrane chamber is removed.  The selected cells will remain with the adherent membrane at the bottom of the surrounding culture dish and can be directly subcultivated.
Working with living cells and cell cultures
Incubators and other helpful accessories are available for the work with living cells. These system incubators and accessories provide a sterile, CO2-saturated environment with constant temperature. Automatic humidity control can be offered optional.
