IX2-ARCEVA - white light illumination module
The IX2-ARCEVA was the world’s first Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy (TIRFM) solution with evanescent illumination from an arc lamp source. The slit mechanism developed by Olympus provides white light evanescent wave illumination for high signal to noise fluorescence observations with extraordinary thin optical sectioning at the specimen-coverslip interface. This solution for microscopes of the IX2 range enables a wider choice of excitation colours compared to TIRFM systems based on single wavelength laser light sources which in turn are more sensitive.
