The Executive Management Board directs Olympus Europa SE & CO. KG and manages its business on a day-to-day basis. It is obliged to observe the interests of the company and increase corporate value in a sustainable manner.

Building on a career in HR at German department store chain Karstadt and travel company Thomas Cook, Stefan Kaufmann joined Olympus in 2003 as General Manager, HR. In 2008 he became Managing Director, Corporate Division. Kaufmann was appointed Executive Managing Director of Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG in November 2011 and has additionally been responsible for the consumer business since September 2013. In April 2017 he was appointed Executive Officer, Olympus Corporation.

Frank Drewalowski shaped his career within the company. He started out as an Assistant Product Manager and worked in various different business areas of our medical portfolio – from product management to sales and service, traversing the full hierarchy of national and regional roles on his way along the Olympus career path. In April 2011 he was appointed Managing Director Medical Systems Division at Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG.

Matthias Jakob embarked on his professional career with Olympus in 1993 as Sales Controller. From there he progressed to the position of Olympus Europa CFO and Secretary to the Board in 2008. Between December 2011 and January 2013 he was Regional Managing Director, responsible for Central Eastern Europe in addition to his finance role. Matthias Jakob was appointed Managing Director Corporate Division for Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG in 2013.

Following academic positions at the Technical University and Free University of Berlin, Dr André Roggan began his professional career in 2001 as Director of Research & Development at Celon AG, and was appointed its CEO in 2008. He managed the company’s full integration into Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbH and in April 2012 was appointed as Speaker for the Board of Directors. In April 2013 he was promoted to Executive Managing Director and Chairman of Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe as well as Managing Director of Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG.

Coming from the B2B mechanical engineering industry sector, Michael Speiser joined Olympus in 2005 as Managing Director for the Olympus Austria subsidiary. After holding responsibility for several country organisations and business areas, he was appointed Regional Managing Director for the Central region. Additionally, in October 2014 he accepted the role of Managing Director Scientific Solutions for Olympus in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and also joined the management board.

Akihiro Taguchi joined Olympus right after finishing his studies in the 1980s. After gaining valuable knowledge in diverse company positions, he joined Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe in 2002 and became its Managing Director in 2004. Following his return to Tokyo in April 2008, he assumed leading roles in the company’s Medical Systems business. In April 2012 he was promoted to President of Olympus Medical Systems Corporation and Senior Executive Managing Officer of the Olympus Corporation. In addition to this role, Akihiro Taguchi took over the position of Olympus Corporation Head of Sales Group in April 2015. Taguchi-san joins the Europa Management board in his role as shareholder representative and liaison for the Olympus Corporation.
