The Olympus ENT range provides comprehensive solutions for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in rhinology, otology, and laryngology. This includes advanced video-endoscopes, high-definition imaging systems, and minimally invasive therapeutic technologies such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microdebrider systems.
Our therapeutic portfolio focuses on tissue-preserving, minimally invasive treatments:
- CELON: Utilises intelligent bipolar radiofrequency induced thermotherapy (RFITT) for the controlled, local treatment of conditions like habitual snoring, chronic nasal congestion (turbinate reduction), and tonsil reduction.
- CELERIS: A single-use, mini-microdebrider system designed for precise tissue removal in rhinology and airway management, offering a streamlined setup for both the operating theatre and outpatient clinics.
Our portfolio is powered by high-definition surgical video platforms designed to deliver exceptional clarity and contrast in the operating theatre and outpatient clinic. Key systems include:
- VISERA S Platform (including the OTV-S500 processor): A highly integrated, space-saving HD imaging tower that combines superb visualisation with an intuitive workflow, making it an ideal core system for dedicated ENT theatres and diagnostic suites.
- VISERA ELITE III Video System: A versatile, compact imaging solution tailored for flexible endoscopy, optimising clinical workflow during routine ENT diagnostic examinations without compromising on image quality.
Narrow Band Imaging™ (NBI™) is a proprietary optical imaging technology that enhances the visibility of vascular structures and mucosal patterns without the use of chemical dyes. By filtering white light into specific wavelengths, blue (415nm) and green (540nm), NBI™ takes advantage of the high absorption spectrum of haemoglobin. Blue light penetrates superficially to illuminate capillaries in the mucosa, while green light penetrates deeper to reveal larger submucosal vessels.
This structural contrast is highly valuable in laryngology, rhinology, and oncology pathways for:
- Early detection of microvascular changes associated with suspicious lesions.
- Clearer boundary demarcation during targeted tissue biopsies or surgical resections.
- More confident long-term surveillance and post-treatment monitoring of patients.
Yes. Advanced visualisation features, including NBI™, are integrated into our flagship processors like the OTV-S500 (VISERA S) and our dedicated flexible video-endoscopy systems. This ensures that whether you are performing a complex surgical procedure under a rigid telescope or a routine diagnostic laryngoscopy with a flexible scope, you have access to enhanced optical diagnosis at the touch of a button on the camera head.
Unlike monopolar systems CELON’s bipolar configuration ensures the high-frequency current flows exclusively between the two poles of the applicator tip. The integrated CELON power control automatically monitors tissue impedance, acoustic feedback signals when the optimal coagulation grade is achieved, and automatically stops power delivery. This aims to prevent over-coagulation, maximises patient safety, and minimises damage to surrounding healthy mucosa.
Yes. Because CELERIS is a compact, single-use system with a minimal footprint, it eliminates the need for bulky console setups. This makes it highly versatile and ideally suited for moving appropriate procedures out of main operating theatres and into outpatient clinic rooms or ambulatory care units, helping to optimise hospital capacity.
The single-use design of the CELERIS microdebrider eliminates the time and costs associated with sterile processing, wrapping, and transport. It ensures a sterile, fully functional device is available on demand, potentially reducing turnaround times between cases and minimising the risk of cross-contamination.
Many of our latest HD endoscopes and video-rhinolaryngoscopes integrate seamlessly with standard Olympus surgical imaging platforms (such as the VISERA series). For specific compatibility matrices regarding light sources, camera heads, and video processors, please contact your local Territory Manager.
All reusable ENT endoscopes must undergo rigorous cleaning and high-level disinfection or sterilisation between patients. Olympus provides validated, step-by-step reprocessing manuals detailing manual pre-cleaning, automated endoscope reprocessors (AER) compatibility, and approved chemical sterilants. Always consult the specific Instructions for Use (IFU) for your device model.
We support clinical teams through structured evaluation periods, including on-patient demonstrations and live workflow training led by clinical specialists. To coordinate a trial, check product availability, or discuss procurement frameworks for the UK and Ireland markets, please get in touch via our site's contact form or reach out directly to your designated ENT Territory Manager.
